Edward Michael Grylls
When this guy was a child, 8, he was shown a photo of the Mount Everest; he said that he would climb it one day, excitedly. His father told him that only tough people can climb it and it was not an easy task. From that point on, it became his dream. In his early twenties he met with an accident and the doctors were like, it was a miracle that he's alive and they even thought that he'll not survive. Further, he was told that he'll never be able to walk his whole life and he'll just be existing, bed-ridden. But he proved them wrong after scaling the Everest just a year after he was told so. He became one of the youngest people to have climbed the Everest.
He, who is popularly known as Bear Grylls, a hero, became popular among the people of the world.
But that was not easy, there are several ordeals behind the achievement of his.
Almost, there are no people in this world who don’t know about Bear Grylls. His show "Man Vs. Wild" doesn’t need any language to be known, he's that famous. There're lakhs of people in this world who are a motivation, an inspiration to all, but Bear tops the list; it's because of the hell year he survived, 1996, after being bedridden.
Born on 7 June 1974 in UK. Bear Grylls is a British adventurer. His sister gave him the nick name "Bear" when he was barely a week old. Right from the point he was shown the picture of the Everest, in his childhood he was fully an active kid. He liked to climb up trees and whatever comes his way, like kid Bahubali in the same movie or like a monkey. And for achieving his dream of climbing the Everest he has trained with the Indian Army as they operate in high and cold terrains in the foothills of the Himalayas. He later joined the British Army's Special Air Service arm and served as a survival instructor and retired as a honorary Lieutenant Colonel. He did this because he wanted to do what he wished, adventure.
There're some points in life where there shouldn't be any margin for error. One such event was when Bear was on his para-jumping course, from 16000 feet. It was Africa, the parachute refused to open. Imagine, how he might have felt, his life would had to end by then. Summoning all his courage, he landed on his back, from 16000 feet.
He was in a pool of blood and when he was taken to the hospital the doctors were surprised to have him alive. And you know what was his condition and the doctors' opinion then. He has injured his backbone at three points, almost crushing them fully. We know very well how important backbone is for humans. We even make derogatory remarks on people stating that they're spineless creatures.
In his early twenties, in a dark room, he had cried, weeping almost every minute a day. This led him to take a decision, this time a firm one that he would be at the pinnacle of the world atop Mount Everest.
The very next year after several attempts and good and hard practice, he started climbing the Everest. Slow and steady, finally, he made it with flying colors. Many have scaled the Everest by not at an early age. Today, he's one of the very few youngsters who did it at their early twenties and the first from United Kingdom.
We grew up seeing his show "Man Vs. Wild" which almost is impossible that any person wouldn't know and wouldn't want to watch. Survival and adventure made his life, as he wished, as he worked for it. From cutting open a camel's stomach to drink water to survive the hottest palces on earth to making a sleeping bag out of a wild animal's fur to survive that of the coldest, he is eminent around the world.
Former American President Mr. Barack Obama, Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi have trusted him and have gone into the woods and returned safely back home!
He did all he wanted, adventure. Now with 3 children he leads a happy life and runs a survival academy.
Here are some quotes from Bear Grylls:
1. "You get only one chance at life, grab it boldly "
2. "When you're going through hell, keep going "
3. "The difference between ordinary and extraordinarily is so often that little word- extra"
4. "Don't listen to the dream stealers"(In his case the doctors, personal favorite)
5. "If you give your heart to a goal, it'll repay you. It's the law of the universe"
6. "Pain is temporary, quitting lasts forever"
What are you waiting for? You have your life to achieve more. And most importantly an unbroken backbone, spinal cord, vertebral column.
Thank You...
Cheers...
