The World's Unknown Strange Wonders
Hello!!! This is Thrisa Subramani.
Let's explore some strange wonders of the world...
Our world is filled with strange and surprising things. In which some of them are not encountered by most of us. Particularly Blood falls, Lake Natron, Cano Cristales are quite unusual among others.
1.BLOOD FALLS, WITNESS THE RED WATER FLOW:
It is located in Antarctica, Blood Falls is flowing from the tongue of Taylor Glacier's 400 meter (1,312 feet) onto the ice covered surface of West lake booney in Taylor valley. An ancient hypersaline lake formed about 5million year ago. It is the coldest glacier on Earth with constant flowing water.
Blood Falls, named for its flushed colour, is not in facts a Rush of blood from some unseen wound.
The colour was initially chalked up to red algae, but a study in the journal of Glaciology has uncovered its true origin using radar to scan the layers of ice from which the river pours.
In 1911, blood Falls was first discovered by Australian explorer Griffith Taylor during an expedition. At the time he and other explorers guessed that the red colour might be caused by algae living in water.
After many years Team of scientists, including national geographic emerging explorer Erin pettit discovered, the lake under the glacier has an unusually salty consistency and because salt water has lower freezing point than pure water and release heat as it freezes it melts the ice, enabling the river flows, through this water is so filled with Iron that it looks like blood in colour entirely.
2.LAKE NATRON, THE SCARIEST LAKE:
It is located in Africa, Lake Natron is found in the northern part of Tanzania, surface elevation is about 600 metres (2,000ft). The lake takes its name from Natron, a naturally occurring compound made mainly of sodium carbonate with bit of baking soda thrown in.
The color of the lake is characteristic of these where very high evaporate during the dry season, salinity levels increase to the points that salt micro-organisms begin to thrive. The Alkali salt crust on the surface of the lake is also often colored red or pink by the salt micro-organisms.
The extreme waters of Tanzania's lake Natron are as deadly as they are beautiful. As consequence, the water evaporates, it leaves behind high concentrations of salt making it a salt lake like dead sea. The water is extremely alkaline and it's pH is almost as high as that of ammonia.
A Natural lake that seemingly turns all sorts of animals into stone.
Photographer Nick Brandt in 1995, discovered perfectly preserved birds and bats on the shoreline. "I could not help but photography them" he says. "No one knows for certain exactly how they die, but it appears that the extreme reflective nature of the lake's surface confuses them, and like bird crashing into plate glass windows, they crush into the lake"
According to Dante, the styn is not just a lake but a vast, deathly swamp filling the entire fifth circle of hell.
Will human die in lake Natron?
Yes, lake Natron will kill a human, but flamingos breed on its salty water. At the base a mountain in Tanzania's gregory rift, lake natron burns bright red surrounded by calcified remains of animals that were unfortunately enough to fall into the salt water.
Unless you are alkaline tilapia it is not best place to live. Temperature of the lake can reach 60°C and it's alkalinity is between pH 9 and pH 10.5.
3.CANO CRISTALES, THE RIVER OF FIVE COLORS:
It is located in Colombia, Cano Cristales is a Colombian river located in the serranaia de la macarena province of meta, does not exceed 20 metres wide, although it's length goes beyond 100km.
The River is commonly called"The River of Five Colors" or "The Liquid Rainbow" and Cano Cristales is noted for its striking colors. The most beautiful river in the world.
Cano Cristales is the most spectacular natural wonder in the world. The River mesmerizes with amazing Colors; Vivacious yellow, green, blue, black and red shades quiver from the bottom.
The river long remained a mythical and forbidden mystery, mostly unknown to public.
In 1968, Cano Cristales was discovered by some group of cattle farmers. The discovery however, did not lead an influx to tourists trekking through the wilderness.
The water in the river is extremely clear due to the lack of nutrients and small particles. Almost unique is the bright red -pink coloration of river bed after rainy period. This color is caused by great quantities of endemic plant species macarenia clavigera.
The only species live in the river is macarenia clavigera, so there are no fish in the Cano Cristales.
Tourist activity in the serraina de la macarena was totally prohibited in the late 1980s, for safety reasons and remained so untill 2002, but since 2017, the area became a popular tourist destination after Air travel became possible.
