NCC's Evolution
Hai Peeps !!! This is Boopathy.
Most of us have some knowledge about NCC. Few of us have some experience in it. But many of us doesn't know the history behind it.
National Cadet Corps is a crew of Young persons related to Armed Forces with its Headquarters at New Delhi. Those persons are trained on grounds of Discipline and Leadership. It's Motto is " Unity and Discipline " ( Ekta aur Anushasan ).
It was evolved from the National Cadet Corps Act, 1948 which was enacted on April 16, 1948. It was enacted in order to compensate the shortage in Indian Army.
In 1942, British Government established University Officers Training Corps ( UOTC ) in order to develop the Military forces. During the World War II, the UOTC did not fulfill the expectations of British. So it planned to change the ideas to form a better Scheme to train more youngsters in a better way. The plan was to train the crew even in Peace time.
Hridya Nathan Kunzru, a freedom fighter and Parlimentarian, lead a committee in which he recommended a Cadet Organization to be established in Schools and Colleges at National level. Then the NCC act was accepted by Governor General and on 15th July 1948, the NCC came into existence. In the same year, Girls Division was also made, to provide opportunities to the girls of Schools and colleges.

Also in 1952, the NCC further includes Community Development and Social Services activities in its syllabus ,as it was requested by our former PM Jawaharlal Nehru for the development of NCC.
After the Indo-China war broke out on 1962. The NCC training was made compulsory in 1963. But after sometime, it was again made voluntary in 1968.
